Sándor Gyökeres on the DUIHK Executive Board

The members of the German-Hungarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce elected new officers at their General Meeting. We are very proud that our company’s managing director, Sándor Gyökeres, has been elected as a new member of the Executive Board.

What does it mean to you personally to have been elected to the DUIHK Executive Board?

It is a great honor and a serious responsibility for me to participate in the work of such a significant professional organization as a member of the board. I find it a particularly exciting challenge to see what values and experiences I can bring to the chamber’s community as the leader of a family-oriented company operating in a specialized sector.

What kind of professional experience or perspective would you like to bring to the work of the board?

I would like to bring a practical perspective, rooted in day-to-day operations, to the work of the board. I believe it is important for business rationality and sustainability to go hand in hand, as this is the only way to operate in a stable and responsible manner over the long term.

In your opinion, what are the most significant challenges currently facing Hungarian-German economic relations?

At present, the greatest challenge is clearly the unpredictable economic environment. This affects energy prices, the regulatory environment, and companies’ operating conditions all at once. In addition, maintaining and strengthening competitiveness in a constantly changing market environment is also a major challenge.

In what areas do you see the greatest potential for growth in the Chamber’s role?

I consider the Chamber’s network of contacts and accumulated professional knowledge to be among its greatest strengths. I see significant potential in strengthening these even more effectively, whether at the professional or regional level. I believe it is important that, in addition to networking, member companies also receive tangible professional value and support.

What does community or advocacy work mean to you as a leader?

As a leader, I believe that we have a responsibility not only to our own organization but also to the broader economic and social community. If life and our professional careers give us the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to our community, then we must embrace that responsibility.

Is there a particular issue or topic that you feel is especially important to advocate for?

Sustainability and artificial intelligence are of paramount importance to me, as they are closely related to my professional field. Beyond these, however, I consider strengthening collaborations to be perhaps the most important priority, since, in the long run, it is genuine connections and partnerships that lay the foundation for progress.

What message do you have for companies and professionals who are actively building Hungarian-German business relationships, and for those who haven’t yet joined the community?

To active members, I would like to emphasize that the strength of the community lies in active participation. The more we take advantage of the opportunities offered by the community, the more valuable it becomes for every member. To those who haven’t joined yet, I want to say that the chamber works as a true partner to help everyone find the connections and opportunities that matter to them. Through openness and active engagement, concrete business value and collaborations can be created.
